Post-Punk Monk The compulsive drum programming; shot through with sizzling cymbal hits that never let up, established the urgent framework that the song was built upon. The contrast between the frantic percussion and the placid drone chords of the synths and the chorused vocals of Todd Lewis intoning the title, encapsulated the carefully balanced tensions of the song. CRITICAL PRAISE FOR “EQUILIBRIUM”

“An impressive Art Rock edifice that legitimately dazzles the ear. The poise and dynamism of this song is quite a calling card for Fluid Japan.” – POST-PUNK MONK, MUSIC REVIEWER

“Wow. I would have thought this was a lost track from some 1980s Peter Murphy side project. It’s perfect.” – STRANGE_IDOL, FLUID JAPAN FAN

"EQUILIBRIUM"

Propelled by an infectious groove of high-energy drums, pulsating synth bass, and atmospheric synthesizers, “Equilibrium” balances nostalgia and innovation, combining '80s synth-pop and warm techno with a contemporary twist.

Soaring, organic vocal harmonies, treated electric piano, and horns balance the lush electronic elements of the song with a distinctly human touch, resulting in a sound that feels as simultaneously intimate as Tears For Fears and as expansive as Peter Murphy or Wild Nothing. Guest musician Jan Linton’s innovative Ebow guitar work, harkening to Daniel Ash (of Tones On Tail and Love and Rockets) and Robert Fripp on David Bowie’s “Heroes”, seamlessly blends with the synthesized melodies that envelop the track, creating a dreamlike atmosphere that perfectly complements the introspective nature of the song.

Dim the lights, embrace the synth-infused melodies, and let "Equilibrium" transport you to a world where the past and present seamlessly intertwine.

"Equilibrium" was mastered by Paul Gomersall, recording engineer for Trevor Horn’s renowned label ZTT, engineer for Howard Jones’ U.S. #1 single “No One Is to Blame”, and recording engineer for artists that include Kate Bush, Genesis, Echo & the Bunnymen, Propaganda, Chapterhouse, and Prefab Sprout.

Jan Linton has recorded with Thomas Dolby/Thompson Twins/David Bowie bassist Matthew Seligman, Brian Eno guitarist Leo Abrahams, Porcupine Tree/Japan keyboardist Richard Barbieri, Duran Duran bassist John Taylor, and Bill Nelson.

CRITICAL PRAISE FOR FLUID JAPAN

“Fluid Japan’s songs are very cinematic and cool. It’s my kind of music – experimental – always where the good stuff comes from. I look forward to hearing more new songs from them.” – PAUL GOMERSALL, RECORDING ENGINEER. Recording engineer for Trevor Horn’s renowned label ZTT. Engineer for Howard Jones’ U.S. #1 single “No One Is to Blame”, Kate Bush’s “The Sensual World”, and Echo & the Bunnymen.

lyrics

Equilibrium.

I love you. I miss you.

Equilibrium.

I love you.
I love you.
I love you.

I wonder if you remember that day.
Or if you put it away.
Locked away.
Under lock and key, forgotten now.
In the dusty corners, forgotten in your mind.
Or did you hold it closer to your heart?
A buried treasure for another day.
Could that day,
Be this day?
I wonder?
I think we’ve got to know.

Be this day? I wonder?

How I held you hand and how you held my heart.
Time can’t erase.
Be this day?
Only thinking of you.
Be this day? I wonder?

Only thinking of you.
I love you. I miss you.
Be this day? I wonder?
