Melatonin keeps me dreaming To sleep perhaps to dream You’re shifting scene to scene Don't say goodbye, my friend 'cause some dreams, some dreams never end (never end) Melatonin Melatonin Melatonin Keeps me dreaming While deep asleep Counting sheep She still comes to me, she still comes to me She whispers, "Why did you try To take my dream away from me?" And I reply, looking into her eyes "Because this is where happiness lies. This is where your dream of happiness lies" (Where happiness lies) Uh! Melatonin Melatonin Melatonin Keeps me dreaming

about

Jan Linton’s“Melatonin EP features Fluid Japan’s Todd Lewis (bass guitar, string synthesizer, and backing vocals) on two tracks, “Melatonin” and “Melatonin (Extended)”. It also features Logan Sky (synths and drum programming) of Steven Jones & Logan Sky and Visage on “Crosses of Light” and Marcus Wenner (flute) on “Goodnight Mr. Ginger”.

The title track “Melatonin”, with its potent, melodic bass guitar, brash beats, atmospheric synthesizers and vocoder, and angular, winding Ebow guitar riffs, hits deep into the sonic territory populated by the works of Ryuichi Sakamoto and Thomas Dolby, Duran Duran, Power Station, Yukihiro Takahashi (YMO), and Tones On Tail.

CRITICAL PRAISE FOR “MELATONIN”:

“A brash motorik variation based around squelchy samples that made me recall the London mix of Dolby and Sakamoto’s “Field Work.” The synth strings built calmness amid the rhythm, then Linton delivered an elegant descending eBow figure undulating through the song. Giving it a bold and confident, yet sensual demeanor.” – POST-PUNK MONK, music reviewer

CRITICAL PRAISE FOR “CROSSES OF LIGHT”:

“Crosses of Light” works within a freeform space where the luscious reverb of the guitar licks glint like sunlight dappling on the surface of a shady lake.” – POST-PUNK MONK, music reviewer

CRITICAL PRAISE FOR “GOODNIGHT MR. GINGER”:

“Crystalline pop sensibility. The assured crooning of Mr. Linton ultimately casts a languid spell on the song. The flute solo harkens back to the Mel Collins era of King Crimson.” – POST-PUNK MONK, music reviewer

“Melatonin” was also named music reviewer Post-Punk Monk’s top pick for single of the year for 2022. Post-Punk Monk made top choice lists for three categories: 2022 Albums of the Year, 2022 Reissues of the Year, and 2022 Singles. “Melatonin” was in truly illustrious company, as his lists included Simple Minds, Ultravox, xPropaganda (Propaganda), John Foxx, Visage, ABC, Altered Images, Vicious Pink, and Steven Jones + Logan Sky.

Jan Linton has recorded and collaborated with artists that include Thomas Dolby/Thompson Twins/David Bowie bassist Matthew Seligman, Brian Eno guitarist Leo Abrahams, Porcupine Tree/Japan keyboardist Richard Barbieri, Duran Duran’s John Taylor, Bill Nelson, and Masami Tsuchiya.

The Melatonin EP was mastered by Logan Sky of Steven Jones & Logan Sky and Visage.

CRITICAL PRAISE FOR JAN LINTON

“Money spent on Jan Linton music is stoking that art rock hunger that is often neglected in ways that few artists are serving these days.” – POST-PUNK MONK, music reviewer
