CRITICAL PRAISE FOR “Don’t Dry Your Eyes”:

“I love the vibe that Fluid Japan’s Todd Lewis and Heather Heimbuch affect with their vocals. Not too many people these days use female backing vocals so well. Keep doing that voodoo that Fluid Japan does so well.” – POST-PUNK MONK, MUSIC REVIEWER

“Another belter! We hear early Simple Minds in here. Please investigate Fluid Japan. Well worth checking out!” – ELECTRONIC CAFÉ, YOUTUBE CHANNEL: FOR THE LOVERS OF ELECTRONIC MUSIC

"Ethereal and awesome. Great “4AD” bass!” – STEVE, Fluid Japan fan

With its fusion of new wave, post-punk, and ambient elements, “Don’t Dry Your Eyes” is a plunge into a shimmering sea of sound. The interplay of synthesizers creates a lush soundscape that conjures the rhythmic churning of ocean surf as the U2esque bass line hints at the depths beneath the swirling waves.

With vocal harmonies that shimmer like sunlight diffused through water, the combination of these elements creates a song that's not just heard but felt—an immersive, emotive experience that harkens to Thomas Dolby’s synthpop masterpiece “One Of Our Submarines”, the Fixx, or Wire’s mid-career electronic work.

Lyrically, “Don’t Dry Your Eyes” is a soundtrack for those moments when love feels as infinite and powerful as the vast ocean before you. Never wipe away tears of joy.

“Don’t Dry Your Eyes” originally appeared on our long out of print eponymous first album (Fluid Japan), but has been remastered from the original tapes and partially re-recorded for this release.

“Don’t Dry Your Eyes” was mastered by Paul Gomersall, recording engineer for Trevor Horn’s renowned label ZTT, engineer for Howard Jones’ U.S. #1 single “No One Is to Blame”, and recording engineer for artists that include Kate Bush, Genesis, Echo & the Bunnymen, Propaganda, Chapterhouse, and Prefab Sprout.

CRITICAL PRAISE FOR FLUID JAPAN

“Fluid Japan’s songs are very cinematic and cool. It’s my kind of music – experimental – always where the good stuff comes from. I look forward to hearing more new songs from them.” – PAUL GOMERSALL, RECORDING ENGINEER. Recording engineer for Trevor Horn’s renowned label ZTT. Engineer for Howard Jones’ U.S. #1 single “No One Is to Blame”, Kate Bush’s “The Sensual World”, and Echo & the Bunnymen.

lyrics

Don’t dry your eyes.
Don’t dry your eyes.

Roll you down to me.
I take you down to the sea.
Don’t dry your eyes.
And spinning in the surf.
Like a goddess wrapped in ecstasy.
Ecstasy.
I pull you down, down with me.
Under the frosty, chilling sea.
Ecstasy.
Sun-kissed with light.
And your skin is shining in the night.
Like a goddess wrapped in ecstasy.
Ecstasy.
Next to me.
Don’t dry your eyes.
Don’t dry your eyes.
Don’t dry your eyes.
Don’t dry your eyes.
Next to me.
Down in the sea.

Take a trip to clear the mind.
Of all that we need to leave behind.
Oh, pretty goddess, dear.
In the sea.
Come stand with me.
I take you down to the sea with me.

Water so warm.
Froth so chill.
Sun that blinds.
Night until.
Don’t dry your eyes.
Don’t dry your eyes.
Don’t dry your eyes.
Don’t dry your eyes.
Don’t dry your eyes.
Don’t dry your eyes.
Don’t dry your eyes.
Don’t dry your eyes.

Don’t dry your eyes.
Don’t dry your eyes.

Don’t dry your eyes.

I’ll pull you down.
